On Friday 1 June, the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay ? presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung ? will travel from Bolton to Liverpool. The Olympic Flame will travel 93.82 miles through 17 communities.

(PRWEB) June 01, 2012

On Friday 1 June, the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay ? presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung ? will travel from Bolton to Liverpool. The Olympic Flame will travel 93.82 miles through 17 communities.

157 Torchbearers will carry the Flame before it arrives at the Evening Celebration in Liverpool where a cauldron will be lit to mark the culmination of the day?s festivities. After the celebrations have finished, the Flame will be transferred to a lantern and it will stay in Liverpool overnight.

On Day 14 the Flame will be carried through the following communities:

Bolton, Horwich, Chorley, Euxton, Croston, Burscough, Ormskirk, Southport, Ainsdale, Formby, Crosby, St Helen?s, Huyton, Knotty Ash, Old Swan, Birkenhead and Liverpool.

The first Torchbearer of the day will be Antony Evitts, 16, from Bolton, who was nominated by Bolton Council for his excellence in swimming, will set off from the steps of the City Hall. Antony has represented the England Talent Programme from a young age, and has realised successes both regionally and nationally. From age 11 he has been ranked in the top six in Great Britain in four events. His biggest achievement to date is qualifying for two events in the 2010 British Championships, where he competed against the best swimmers in Great Britain. Antony is committed to his education at Canon Slade School and effectively manages both his sporting and academic career. Alongside his studies, he trains on a nationally acclaimed swimming programme which involves nine swimming and two gym sessions per week. Antony won the Bolton Sport and Physical Activity Award (BOSPAA) for Sports Achiever of the Year in 2010. His long term goal is to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.

During the day the Flame will visit a number of iconic landmarks. Highlights include:

Anthony Gormley?s Another Place, Crosby. The Flame will be carried to Another Place by Jessica Wade, 15, from Liverpool, who was nominated in the LOCOG public nomination campaign for her time and dedication given to animals in need. The Flame will then be carried along Another Place by three different Torchbearers. Receiving the Flame from Jessica will be Paul Mcevoy, 25, Liverpool, who was selected through Coca Cola for the time and dedication that he gives to young people. Paul will then hand the Flame to Richard Webster, 45, from The Wirral, who was selected through Lloyds TSB for his efforts raising money for charities. Richard will then hand the Flame to Francis Meadows, 53, Liverpool, who was selected through Lloyds TSB for his 25 years of work at Crosby Stuart Junior Football.

Aintree Racecourse. Kimberley Cooper, 22, from Liverpool, who was nominated through the LOCOG campaign, will carry the Flame through the grandstands and out onto the racecourse. Kim was the ?Legend? vinspired National Award Winner for 2011. The award recognises someone who has successfully led a team of volunteers to make a difference. Kim volunteered at Leeds University as a Project Co-ordinator for ?Green Streets?, a project that stops re-usable items left by students in their halls of residence ending up in a landfill. Over two years she led her team to divert over 50 tonnes of re-usable material and created over 3,000 hours of volunteering for her team. She grew ?Green Streets? into a city-wide scheme bringing in multiple partnerships, including Leeds City Council, local community groups and other Universities.

Knowsley Safari Park, Prescot. The Flame will be carried around Knowsley Safari Park by Jane Campbell, 36, from Liverpool, who was selected through Lloyds TSB for her work in starting and running a Seniors Lunch Club in one of the most deprived areas of the country. This will include a visit to the Elephant Enclosure and the Giraffe Platform.

The Mersey Ferry, Birkenhead. The Flame will be carried into the jetty by Rebecca Blacklock, 19, from The Wirral, who was selected through Lloyds TSB for her dedication and commitment to voluntary work in the area. She will then hand the Flame to Craig Lundberg, 26, from Liverpool who will carry the Flame onto the ferry for the crossing across the Mersey. Craig was blinded whilst on service in Iraq in 2007 when a rocket propelled grenade blew in his face. Since his injuries Craig has, amongst many other things, played for the England blind football team, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the Help the Heroes charity, worked in the community giving inspirational speeches to children and is a support to other wounded servicemen, he is also hoping to participate in the Paralympics in the GB blind football team. Despite his injuries Craig has a fighting spirit and doesn?t let anything get in his way, he has taken it in his stride turned it into a positive and become a role model for other people in a similar situation.

Other Torchbearers during the day will include:

Chris Boardman, 43, from West Kirby, will be carrying the Flame in Birkenhead. Chris Boardman MBE exploded onto the international cycling scene, and captured the British public?s imagination by winning the individual pursuit at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Chris went on to win two world titles on the track, three stages of the Tour de France and set numerous world records including the gruelling hour record shortly before his retirement from cycling in 2000. Chris has always been linked with cutting edge technology and his knowledge and experience became invaluable as he led British Cycling?s research and development team in the run up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where they became the most successful British sporting team of all time. Outside of cycling, Chris ran the 2009 London Marathon for the National Autistic Society and launched the 5km Santa Dash on behalf of the Hoylake Cottage community hospital in West Kirby. Chris is truly an inspirational figure in the history of British sport.

Mel C, 38, London, will be carrying the Flame in Birkenhead. She has been part of one of the most successful Girl Bands of all time, The Spice Girls, and has since forged a name for herself as a sole artist achieving over 3 million album sales, two number 1 singles, six top 10 singles and over 200 combined weeks on the UK chart. Melanie has given a lot of time to various charities including Sport Relief where she has helped raise awareness of people in need in the UK and Worldwide. Melanie is a keen gymnast and dancer and is dedicated to making a difference to people's lives.

Cameron Small, 14, Preston, will be carrying the Flame in Southport. He has inspired so many young and old by his brave fight against a life threatening blood illness. This has included over 900 visits to hospital and harsh, painful treatments including four courses of chemotherapy and many others that have now made him a insulin dependent diabetic. Despite all this, from the age of four he has been an inspirational fundraiser, raising money to help other children and to make their time in hospital easier. He has so far raised an incredible ?115000 by organising things from simple raffles to mass sandcastle builds and has even sat in a bath of beans for hours. When he heard his beloved children?s hospital was to close and an appeal was being launched to raise ?20 million in just three years he decided that he must get involved and so three years later after many adventures and hard work, Cameron gave a speech at a gala celebration dinner thanking everyone who was involved for their efforts and that the total had been reached. For all his efforts, Cameron was made the first young ambassador for the Royal Manchester Children?s Hospital and has since been awarded many awards from the Children?s Champion to the Pride of Britain. He accepts them on behalf of all the other brave children and his moving speeches have had rooms full of celebrities in tears. Cameron has always wanted to be an Olympian and to carry the Olympic torch would mean that a brave and inspirational boys dream would have come true.

Stephanie Millward, 30, Swansea, will be carrying the Flame in Huyton. She was selected through the Coca-Cola Future Flames programme. Stephanie has always had a passion and love of sports not just because they are fun but also because they allow everyone the chance to work together which she feels is very important. Stephanie swims 9 sessions a week along with two gym sessions which allow her to compete for Great Britain which she enjoys. Stephanie hopes to compete and medal in seven events in London2012 and she hopes to continue teaching young children to swim.

Paul Hardaker, 41 from Liverpool, will be carrying the Flame in Ormskirk. He was nominated through the Lloyds TSB public nomination campaign. He is a long term Crohn's Disease sufferer and has recently sailed single-handedly around the UK, meeting sufferers at every port, to raise money for the Crohn's and colitis foundation.

Joseph Shaw, 17, from Kirkby, will be carrying the Flame in Huyton. Joe has two younger sisters who both have special needs and despite his young age Joe is a constant source of help to his family, often acting as a carer for his sisters. He helps out as a junior leader with local kids clubs and also helps at TANGO ? a local community group helping people come together.

The line-up includes music from The Wombats, a dance troupe who will provide a unique fusion of street performance, theatre and sport and dance act Twist and Pulse. There will also be entertainment from local acts staged by Liverpool City Council.

Towards the end of the two-hour show, the last Torchbearer of the day ? Craig Lundberg - will light a celebration cauldron on stage at the event which will enable the Olympic Flame to be seen by the audience.

The Olympic Torch Relay will also include exciting moments with extreme heights, high speeds and breath-taking spectacles and the Flame will be travelling by different methods of transport including horseback, bicycle, tram and steam-train. Every county in England and every Local Authority area in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales will host the Olympic Flame, with visits reaching as far north as Lerwick in Scotland to St Helier in the south, Lowestoft in the east and Enniskillen in the west. Many thousands of people are expected to welcome the Olympic Flame along the route each day and celebrate the achievements of the Torchbearers in parks, squares and streets right around the UK.

The convoy travelling with the Flame consists of 14 core vehicles, including a pilot car, Torchbearer drop-off and pick-up shuttles, Presenting Partner vehicles, a media vehicle, a command car and security vehicles. The lead convoy, including the Presenting Partner vehicles, will provide entertainment for the crowds. The Torchbearer will follow some 5 to 7 minutes later.

A crew of approximately 350 people will be working each day of the Relay. Core teams of LOCOG staff, the Metropolitan Police Torch Security Team, Presenting Partners, host Police Forces and host Local Authorities will be working together throughout the 70 days.

Diagnosis: Breast Cancer : The Best Action Plan for Navigating Your ...

Cara Novy-Bennewitz

I regularly get requests to review books on breast cancer and when Cara Novy- Bennewitz sent me an advance copy of her book, Diagnosis: Breast Cancer: The Best Action Plan for Navigating Your Journey, I was delighted to be able to review a book by someone I had come to know online.

Now at this point you may be thinking what?s so special about yet another breast cancer book hitting our shelves, but let me tell you this book is special!?What makes Diagnosis: Breast Cancer stand out from the rest is how eminently practical and down to earth it is, and Cara?s remarkable ability to distil complicated and often overwhelming information into an easy to understand and digestible format.

This guide helps the reader organize their thoughts and to formulate a step by step action plan by giving them the tools they need. Standout features include worksheets to help you keep track of all your paperwork and medical expenses, information on understanding your pathology report (something I am still confused about 7 years later) practical guides to treatment options and much more.

I found myself reading Diagnosis: Breast Cancer?while thinking how much I wished this book had been available to me at the time of my own diagnosis. My collection of appointment cards, information booklets, receipts, and other documents I gathered throughout treatment were disorganized and frankly unhelpful. I felt overwhelmed with the complexities of decisions to be made and unfamiliar medical jargon. ?Imagine having a tool to hand which would help you plan and keep in control of your information at a time when you feel so overwhelmed and confused? ?Well, this book is it, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Next week I will be featuring an interview with Cara, who in addition to being the author of this wonderful book, ?is a breast cancer survivor and a certified cancer exercise specialist and medical ambassador for The American Cancer Society. Cara will also be giving away a copy of her book to one lucky reader.??So stay tuned?

Panetta: Pentagon to shift warships to Pacific

(AP) ? The Pentagon will shift more Navy warships to the Asia-Pacific region over the next several years, and by 2020, about 60 percent of the fleet will be assigned there as part of a new strategy to increase U.S. presence in Asia, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Saturday.

While noting it may take years to complete the transition, Panetta assured his audience at a security conference in Singapore that U.S. budget problems and cutbacks would not get in the way of changes. He said the Defense Department has money in the five-year budget plan to meet those goals.

Speaking at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue conference, Panetta provided some of the first real details of the Pentagon's impending pivot to the Pacific.

"It will take years for these concepts, and many of the investments that I just detailed, but we are making those investment in order that they be fully realized," Panetta said in a speech opening the conference. "Make no mistake, in a steady, deliberate and sustainable way, the United States military is rebalancing and is bringing an enhanced capability development to this vital region."

His promises, however, are likely to be met with skepticism from some nations that are aware of the coming budget cuts and have watched the U.S. send the bulk of its military might to Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade. The boost in ship presence could increase tensions with China, where leaders have said they are unhappy with any larger U.S. presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

A key area of dispute is the South China Sea, which China claims almost entirely as its own. But Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines also have territorial claims there. The U.S. has pressed for a diplomatic solution to the disagreements but has also made it clear that freedom of navigation is critical in the region.

Overall, however, Panetta tamped down his criticism of China, choosing instead to issue broad warnings about the use of force in the South China Sea to block access. He praised China and Taiwan for working to improve their relationship across the Taiwan Strait.

He said he is looking forward to visiting China later this year, adding that he wants to see the U.S. and China deepen their military ties, including on counterdrug programs and humanitarian aid.

Panetta acknowledged that some see the increased presence of the U.S. in the region as a direct challenge to China. But he rejected that view, saying that a greater U.S. presence in the Asia-Pacific will benefit China and improve regional security.

The increased U.S. naval presence in the Pacific will allow the U.S. to boost the number and size of the military exercises in the region in the next few years and to plan for more port visits over a wider area, including the Indian Ocean. Last year, the U.S. military participated in 172 exercises in the region involving 24 counties.

Currently, the Navy has about 285 ships, with roughly half assigned to each coast, but that total may decline a bit as some ships are retired in the coming years and may not be replaced.

The current fleet includes 11 aircraft carriers, with six assigned to the Pacific. But those numbers are slated to go down later this year, dipping to 10 carriers, with five assigned to Pacific ports in San Diego, Washington state and Japan.

Panetta, however, said he intends to go back to having six carriers in the Pacific in the coming years. And he said the Pacific will also eventually host a majority of the Navy's cruisers, destroyers, submarines and littoral combat ships, which operate in close to shore.

Numbers, however, aren't everything. So Panetta assured the conference that the region will also get ships that have greater technological capabilities. He did not elaborate on what those might be, but he noted that the U.S. expects to deploy more enhanced and high-tech submarines and fighter aircraft, along with new electronic warfare and communications systems.

Panetta is on a nine-day trip across Asia, with planned stops in Vietnam and India.

Antibiotic-Free Meat Business Is Booming, Thanks To Chipotle

The antibiotic-free pigs roam freely on Niman Ranch in Iowa.

It's no longer just foodies at farm markets or Whole Foods buying antibiotic-free, pasture-raised meats.

Increased demand is coming from lots of big players, including Hyatt Hotels; institutional food providers such as Bon Appetit Management Co., which caters to schools and companies; and the fast-food chain Chipotle Mexican Grill. And it's changing the game.

In fact, this year, Chipotle, which is growing so quickly that it's opening about three new locations each week, will slowly braise and sell about 120 million pounds of naturally raised pork, chicken and beef that meets its antibiotic-free standards.

?

The company's transition to antibiotic-free meat began more than a decade ago when Chipotle realized its pork wasn't selling very well. And Steve Ells, the founder, wanted to make some changes.

He stumbled upon an article called "The Lost Taste of Pork" in The Art of Eating, a boutiquey, food-lover's journal, which detailed the practices of Paul Willis, a family farmer in Iowa. Willis raises pigs on pasture, the old-fashioned way. At the time, Willis' methods were a radical departure from the large, industrial operations that confine pigs indoors and feed them regular doses of antibiotics.

In the article, published back in 1999, writer Edward Behr described a thick pork chop he'd eaten at Chez Panisse in Berkeley that came from a pig raised on the Iowa farm. "It was the best pork I'd ever eaten ? tender and somewhat fatty," he wrote. Ells was intrigued.

Ells ordered some pork from Willis, who had teamed up with Niman Ranch in Iowa, and Chipotle's customers responded: Despite a jump in price from $4.50 to $5.50 for a carnitas burrito, sales improved.

"We started selling twice as many carnitas as we had been before," Chipotle's Chris Arnold told me. He acknowledged that it's hard to know whether people truly detected a big difference, or if the in-store marketing about the switch to all-natural, antibiotic-free pigs caught people's attention. Either way, it set Chipotle on a new course.

I reached out to Willis, the farmer in Iowa who gave Chipotle its first taste of free-range pigs a decade ago, to ask how the natural-pork business is changing.

To be sure, antibiotic-free meat still makes up a tiny share of the market. Economists estimate it's around 2 percent. But demand is growing.

"The marketplace for what we do has increased dramatically," he says. When he began working with Niman Ranch, which operates a bit like a co-op, he was the only pork farmer. Now there are hundreds.

"I'm proud that we've created a market for people who want to raise livestock this way," Willis told me.

And increasingly, consumers seem to be making the connections about what they eat. Concerns about antibiotic resistance in humans have led the Food and Drug Administration to issue voluntary guidelines that recommend limiting the use of antibiotics in livestock animals.

As consumer awareness has grown, Chef Greg Lopez of Hyatt Hotels says people are showing that they're willing to pay more for food that they perceive to be more healthful.

"I think we're at that groundswell moment, at that tipping point right now," he says.

Lopez says this month Hyatt announced it will offer antibiotic-free, naturally raised meat, poulty and dairy options at all of its hotels. The chain decided to expand these options, in part, after it saw the success of a natural burger on the menu. Meyer Natural Angus supplies those burgers.

"When they [consumers] were given a choice between just burger, and burger that was naturally raised and hormone-free, 30 percent paid a premium, a couple of bucks" to get the antibiotic-free option, Lopez says.

The list of retailers making changes is expanding. Wal-Mart sells a number of antibiotic-free beef and poultry products.

And as demand grows some farmers and suppliers are scrambling to adjust.

One sign of growing pains ? temporary hiccups in the supply chain. Hyatt's Lopez says just this week his favorite all-natural chicken supplier ? Palouse Pastured Poultry ? told him it is temporarily sold out. "I'm in a dry spell," Lopez says. "Their next slaughter is scheduled for the last week of June or the first week of July."

Lopez says the good news is that there are more farmers ramping up this kind of production, so he'll be able to buy antibiotic-free chickens from another farm this month.

As for Behr, and the contribution of his "Lost Taste of Pork" article that helped chart a new course for Chipotle, I called him up to ask him about it.

"This is the one huge piece of good I've done through writing about food," he said with a laugh. "The one, huge, thing!"

All about Beauty Therapy from a Distance

If you are wondering about furthering yourself and you are looking to study something, then you should consider studying with distance learning. You get to study and does all your course work from home, giving you the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want, just as long as you have all the work done in time and you are able to pass the course. Some distance schools do not put time limits on your studies, and that means that you can also study at your own pace. If you are worried about payments, then the whole distance study thing will come in handy because you can work and earn money to pay for it while you are study.

When you take a look at the educational institutions that offer distance learning you will notice that all of them offer payment plans, similar to the ones you see on ellabachecollege.edu.au.

They will all have a page that displays their rates and payment options and if you can?t find it, then at least you have the contact us page to get a hold of them to arrange your studies. Beauty therapy in particular relies quite heavily on practical experience and it is a requirement for all students that are studying beauty, to have a certain number of hours where they are actually practicing their trade. That means that even though they are not yet qualified, they can still practice and get a few things done. Some of these courses are segmented and broken up into study units for each specific section, and if you are on a really tight budget, you can complete your studies unit by unit. You can save up for each one and then pay for it as soon as you are ready to carry on studying. Once you have completed a unit, you can head out into the field and start practicing on friends and family members, to use them as guinea pigs for all your beauty experiments. Just remember to take pictures of everything so you can laugh at the good times you had before you got really good at being a beauty therapist. Make sure you check the level of the course and what the qualification actually entitles you to do once you have finished it.

If you have a particular job in mind, then you must ensure that your chosen course will get you there or at least on the path to getting there. With some careful planning and a bit of dedication, you can make your studies a pleasant and affordable experience.

Insecurity in Relationships - Get back with your ex today!

Most novels always end with the stories of a never-ending relationship full of love, but that it not always the case in reality. Falling in love is not always a bed of roses, especially if you discover or suspect that the other is not showing true love. This attitude then makes you to end up feeling insecure about the status of your relationship. It can be difficult to handle insecurity in a relationship, especially when you have a partner who does not understand you.

Dealing with, and understanding insecurity in relationships is not an easy task if your partner does not understand the pain you are going through. Sometimes, the confusion in the levels of intimacy between the two lovers can lead to more frustration and pain that usually lead to breakups. A relationship breakup is the step which signifies the end of a relationship, giving you the opportunity to move on in life. However, insecurity makes you to believe the relationship is still on, and that you are in love, you have the feeling that you have already broken up.

Confusion with Insecurity in Relationships

One of the signs of insecurity in a relationship is that you will be confused, feeling very emotionally vulnerable, especially if you have bad experiences in your previous relationships. This makes you to ask questions such as:

  • Did I do anything that made him to be upset?
  • Will I be rejected?
  • Will this relationship last?

How to Overcome Insecurity in Relationships

  1. Do not always compare yourself to other people ? You must start seeing yourself as being different from other people. That is one of the ways of overcoming insecurity in a relationship. You will see yourself as being inferior to others if you continue to make comparisons.
  2. Leave the past behind ? Most people are hunted by the past if they continue to make references and judgments based on the past. This then leads to series of mistakes when those past life issues are brought to the present. You should be able to forgive and move on, whether it is from a previous romantic relationship or from your childhood.
  3. Self-image Improvement ? A good way of overcoming insecurity in relationships is by improving one?s self-image. Try to start working on your body to look good; get a new hairstyle, buy good makeups and wear good and attractive fashions apparel.
  4. Don?t do ?mind reading? again ? You will feel insecure if you continue to wonder about what your partner is done at a particular moment. Stop thinking about things like, ?I know he will be with that girl now?, ?I am sure that they are still seeing each other?, etc.

Insecurity is still a serious problem, leading to premature breakup of relationships today. Start trusting your partner and makes moves to make your relationship work. No relationship can succeed if the partners are always suspecting each other. With the right attitude, the stronghold of insecurity can be broken up in your relationship. Have confidence in yourself, and you will overcome insecurity in your life.
