Most novels always end with the stories of a never-ending relationship full of love, but that it not always the case in reality. Falling in love is not always a bed of roses, especially if you discover or suspect that the other is not showing true love. This attitude then makes you to end up feeling insecure about the status of your relationship. It can be difficult to handle insecurity in a relationship, especially when you have a partner who does not understand you.

Dealing with, and understanding insecurity in relationships is not an easy task if your partner does not understand the pain you are going through. Sometimes, the confusion in the levels of intimacy between the two lovers can lead to more frustration and pain that usually lead to breakups. A relationship breakup is the step which signifies the end of a relationship, giving you the opportunity to move on in life. However, insecurity makes you to believe the relationship is still on, and that you are in love, you have the feeling that you have already broken up.

One of the signs of insecurity in a relationship is that you will be confused, feeling very emotionally vulnerable, especially if you have bad experiences in your previous relationships. This makes you to ask questions such as:

  • Did I do anything that made him to be upset?
  • Will I be rejected?
  • Will this relationship last?

How to Overcome Insecurity in Relationships

  1. Do not always compare yourself to other people ? You must start seeing yourself as being different from other people. That is one of the ways of overcoming insecurity in a relationship. You will see yourself as being inferior to others if you continue to make comparisons.
  2. Leave the past behind ? Most people are hunted by the past if they continue to make references and judgments based on the past. This then leads to series of mistakes when those past life issues are brought to the present. You should be able to forgive and move on, whether it is from a previous romantic relationship or from your childhood.
  3. Self-image Improvement ? A good way of overcoming insecurity in relationships is by improving one?s self-image. Try to start working on your body to look good; get a new hairstyle, buy good makeups and wear good and attractive fashions apparel.
  4. Don?t do ?mind reading? again ? You will feel insecure if you continue to wonder about what your partner is done at a particular moment. Stop thinking about things like, ?I know he will be with that girl now?, ?I am sure that they are still seeing each other?, etc.

Insecurity is still a serious problem, leading to premature breakup of relationships today. Start trusting your partner and makes moves to make your relationship work. No relationship can succeed if the partners are always suspecting each other. With the right attitude, the stronghold of insecurity can be broken up in your relationship. Have confidence in yourself, and you will overcome insecurity in your life.
